Our 1st Annual Seminar hosting our teacher Mark Larson Sensei 6th dan of Minnesota Aiki Shuren Dojo was an unforgettable weekend packed full of training, friendship and heart!
A big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us throughout this past year since opening in Sept 2016, it would be just a building without all of you!

Ama Sensei and I (Maria), have been fortunate to have a dedicated teacher in Larson Sensei, his knowledge and passion for Aikido is unprecedented. We have been honored to call him Sensei since 2011 and have travelled to train with him in North America, Japan, and Sweden. Larson Sensei works diligently to preserve and disseminate the Traditional art of Aikido as it was passed down to him by his Sensei the late great Morihiro Saito Shihan who trained with the founder O'Sensei for over 25 years. We are privileged to train with a Sensei that encompasses such great skill and  heart! We believe that a teacher that can encompass both skill and heart is a rare soul. Mark Larson Sensei exemplifies BUDO (martial way - physically, emotionally, spiritually & ethically) in all forms of the word, and we were excited and fortunate to share this with our students at Tatami - Winnipeg Aiki Shuren Dojo.

Sensei Larson is the founder and chief instructor of Minnesota Aiki Shuren Dojo, in Minnesota, USA, a dojo name bestowed upon his dojo directly by the late, great Morihiro Saito Shihan. In 1992, Sensei Larson's Aikido studies took him to Japan for a decade where he lived, learned, and trained as a live-in/direct student (uchideshi) of Morihiro Saito Shihan at the Founder's Dojo in Iwama, Japan, the birthplace of Aikido.

Sensei Larson received the highest sword (aiki-ken) and staff (aiki-jo) weapons certification (menkyokaiden) from Morihiro Saito Shihan, Sensei Larson's teacher, and currently holds a sixth-degree black belt (rokudan) from the World Aikido Federation (Aikikai) Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Sensei Larson makes annual trips back to Japan and is the technical advisor for a number of Aikido schools in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, travelling to various US states and countries teaching, disseminating, and preserving Iwama Aikido.
